Dedication to KP Gaul, founder of ROCKnREAD
KP Gaul was born in Albany New York on November 5, 1963 (KP would have turned 46). In early 1990, he conceived what is now known throughout the world as ROCKnREADTM. In the beginning, he published only his hand typed versions that were circulated in the local music world in the capital region of New York State. Within a year, the publication was so popular that he began to rely on professional printing companies to produce the magazine. In 1993, he moved to Nashville and immediately began publishing there as well. He quickly became known as the "Music City Madman"TM, being the first to introduce rock-n-roll related publications in Nashville.
In 1995, KPTM purchased the domain name ROCKnREAD.comTM, which briskly became known throughout the world, where thousands of artists have relied on the ROCKnREADTM staff for music reviews and where people have been driven to keep up with the music scene, both on-line and in the hard copies.
Since then, ROCKnREADTM has expanded in many aspects, including its free want-ad sections, "band member connections"TM, interviews with "the famous and the almost famous"TM, just to name a few.
KP, musically, was primarily a singer and guitar player who shared his talents with the public for over 20 years, touring all over the country and with many brilliant (and, indeed, famous) musicians.
KP & Co.TM, his last band, was enjoyed for 7 years in Nashville, Tennessee. He toured with the Blue's Other Brothers, a world renowned band, who originally hired him as a guitar player and singer. He also toured with RoxxTM, Lickity SplitTM, AmbushTM and debuted with big names such as Danger Danger, Wrathchild, Ratt, The Steve Morse Band, Skidmore, Steppenwolf, Pantera, The Guess Who, Three Dog Night, Foghat, Pat Travers and many more well known bands and musicians. Also, the drummer for Charlie Daniels Band, Pat McDonald played drums occasionally in KP's band, KP&Co.TM
KP was a true and patriotic American and compassionate friend. He appreciated his many close friendships, including those with people like Bobby Messano and Ron Hurst of Steppenwolf.
KP will always be missed!
